Nearly eight years ago my son Zachary was born, and we were told he had Down syndrome. We had so many questions. We were scared, excited, confused about what we were reading about Down syndrome and looking for answers and advice. Our pediatrician introduced us to the Triangle Down Syndrome Network (TDSN) and just knowing that a supportive, professional, community-based organization existed and was working on Zach’s behalf put us at ease. Since then, TDSN’s programs and services have supported our family in innumerable ways. We lean on the relationships built through the TDSN connection and value the knowledge we have gained through TDSN’s programming opportunities. In fact, some of my closest friends are fellow TDSN families – we are quite literally, all growing up together on this amazing journey.
With your support TDSN welcomes new babies, trains families to become mentors for new families, builds connections among families through social events, offers educational opportunities to support the growth and development of people with Down syndrome, maintains an extensive resource lending library and organizes social opportunities. TDSN is so grateful to the donors and volunteers that make this possible.
TDSN works tirelessly to use our funding to do miraculous things to support families like mine, and your support is needed now more than ever to insure that the TDSN will be there for people with Down syndrome and their families. Your donation will expand our efforts to welcome all area newborn babies with love and support. Additionally, your support will ensure that healthcare professionals are prepared to offer an accurate picture of life with Down syndrome.
Our family is strong, happy and connected. TDSN is an essential driver for our special families and I joined the TDSN Board of Directors to ensure that Zach and others with Down syndrome will reach their full potential. You have the power to create that bright future with your contribution and for that I am immeasurably grateful.
